National Active Aging Week
September 22-28

This year, The Marsh’s Active Aging program is designed to encourage members and non-members alike to explore fitness activities that bring you enjoyment, as well as help you accomplish your health and fitness goals.

Musical Chairs: An Exploration of Fitness Activities
Our Active Aging Week Kick-off Event!

What motivates adults to physical activity? We know it varies from person-to-person, by gender and age, etc. Some people are motivated by health and fitness goals, while others want to reduce their stress, and yet others seek social and emotional benefits. No matter what your motivation, we know that the key to sustaining a fitness program is finding something that you enjoy doing.  On Monday, September 22, we will kick-off our Active Aging Week with an educational program and fun fitness experiential which will include:
The Importance of Exercise No Matter What Your Age by Health Services Director Joel French, Ph.D. Learn health benefits of exercise, including  stress reduction, injury prevention and cardiovascular fitness
• An exploration of some favorite fitness activities. You will move from
   station-to-station perhaps discovering an activity that brings you joy:
   Drums Alive, Tai Chi, Strength Training, and Pilates. Reception to follow.  Monday, September 22, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Please register in advance at the Front Desk. Complimentary to all.

• Nutrition Basics with Registered Dietitian Kim Plessel,
Tuesday, September 23, 11:00 a.m.

• Strength Training: Adding Free Weights to Your Program, with Marsh Trainer Brad Worm, Wednesday, September 24, 9:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

• Balance Assessment with Merz Physical Therapist, Afton Thomforde, PT, Thursday, September 25, 1:00 -2:00 p.m.

• Aquatic Fundamentals with Marsh Aquatics Director Jillian Markus,
Friday, September 26, 12:00 p.m.

• Pilates Open Door, with Pilates Director Carol Pehle,
Saturday, September 27, 12:00 p.m.

• Nordic Walking with Marsh Trainer Diane Pattridge,
Sunday, September 28, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
